PGA Tour moves CJ Cup from Vegas to South Carolina's Congaree

The PGA Tour has once again "called on Congaree Golf Club in South Carolina" to fill a hole on its event schedule, as it will host the CJ Cup this fall, according to Bob Spear of the Columbia STATE. The CJ Cup originated in Korea but has been held in Las Vegas the last two years due to the pandemic. The tournament in '22 will be "called The CJ Cup in South Carolina." Dates are Oct. 20-23. This will mark Congaree's second tournament in as many years, as it "staged the Palmetto Championship at Congaree in June 2021 when the Tour needed a stop-gap event to replace the RBC Canadian Open," which could not be played in Canada due to Covid border restrictions (Columbia STATE, 6/29). GOLFWEEK's Adam Schupak noted this will be the "first time the tournament will be played in the Southeast region of the U.S. following the staging of the tournament in Las Vegas" (, 6/28).
