So Rutgers, South Carolina, Oregon, Louisville and more are selling football season tix at Costco. Will be interesting to see how successful these marketing campaigns are. For schools struggling to sell tix, seems like a pretty bright idea. pic.twitter.com/cRjFkujsJG— Scott Greene (@TerrapinNation) August 4, 2022
Univ. of South Carolina fans found "special USC ticket promotions" at Costco locations in the state last week as the school and ticket-platform provider FEVO "unveiled their latest opportunity," according to David Cloninger of the Charleston POST & COURIER. Fans can buy a "pass for two tickets to their choice to one of the six home games" this season for $89.99. The ticket vouchers landed in S.C. Costco locations on Tuesday, and by Wednesday afternoon, USC CMO Eric Nichols said that “800 tickets had already been sold.” Nichols said, “It’s a bit of an experiment. We’ve never sold tickets in a retail place.” USC has partnered with FEVO "for years to make its mobile ticketing system easier and more convenient." FEVO also has been "working with hundreds of other partners," and that is "where it started talking to Costco." FEVO contacted USC and "gave it the opportunity to say yes or no with the promotion," with the "caveat that if USC said yes, it would have to apply and present why it would be a compelling offer for the regular fan." The vouchers also come with "two 'all you can eat' concessions passes and one Fairgrounds parking pass." Rutgers and the Univ. of Louisville also have "joined the Costco promotion" and other schools are "expected to do so next week" (Charleston POST & COURIER, 8/4).
