MLB unveils '22 Creator Class with expanded focus on TikTok

MLB on Friday is set to unveil its '22 Creator Class, a program designed to help discover and support new baseball-related talent on TikTok and multiple other social media platforms. Now in its second season, the original #MLBCreatorClass TikTok hashtag has accumulated 145.7 million views since the launch of the program in June '21. MLB reviewed thousands of submissions after calling for creators who can produce great baseball content to apply for the opportunity to become brand ambassadors for the league on the platform. The league selected a “Starting 9,” who will begin to work with MLB this week and will be under contract until November. Their focus will be on creating fun and creative content that highlights the players and game on and off-the-field through music, fashion, art and more. The ambassadors will have the opportunity to attend games and MLB events, including All-Star Week in L.A. and MLB at Field of Dreams, to bring fans on TikTok closer to the game. MLB is exploring hosting an event at the league office for the creator class in the coming weeks. Earlier this year, it hosted a similar event for influencers on Opening Day as it continues to emphasize reaching younger fans.
