A scholarship honoring the late MAURA MANDT “has been established” at New York Univ.’s Tisch School of the Arts. Mandt “worked for more than 20 years on the ESPYS" and was the “creative force behind the awards show." She died in ‘20 at 53. The $1.4M scholarship will be "given out every four years.” Funding was raised through donations, including a leading gift from the PeyBack Foundation, founded in ‘99 by PEYTON and ASHLEY MANNING. A number of other gifts from people in sports and entertainment “rounded out the funding.” Once the recipient of the first scholarship graduates, “another will be awarded.” In addition to the ESPYS, Mandt “helped develop the X Games” while at ESPN and “worked on the NFL Honors show" (, 5/11).

NAMES: High school basketball player MARQUIS “MOOKIE” COOK “has been cast” as Young LEBRON JAMES in "Shooting Stars," Universal and SpringHill Co.’s adaptation of the ‘09 book by James and BUZZ BISSINGER. Cook, a "5-star recruit," is part of the class of ’23 and is “already committed” to the Univ. of Oregon (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 5/14)....Former longtime Patriots radio color analyst and player GINO CAPPELLETTI's funeral mass will be Thursday, May 19 at 10:00am ET at St. Ignatius church on the campus of Boston College (BOSTON HERALD, 5/14).
