Jovan Overshown serves as Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs. Overshown oversees all aspects of the department’s external operations, including Resource Development, Strategic Marketing and Fan Engagement, Branding and Creative Services, Athletic Communications, BaylorVision, and Trademark Licensing. In addition, she manages the department’s multi-media rights partnership with Baylor Bear Sports Properties - Learfield-IMG.
Overshown serves as primary sport administrator for Women’s Basketball, Women’s Tennis and secondary for Football.
Overshown joined Baylor Athletics as Associate AD for Engagement in May 2017 after three years directing internal and external communications at The King’s University. In November 2018, she was promoted to Senior Associate AD for Branding and Engagement when Branding and Creative Services and BaylorVision were added to her areas of oversight. She was promoted to her current role in June 2019.
Among other notable contributions, Overshown spearheaded Baylor University’s United campaign that was unveiled in April 2019. The Baylor x NIKE brand evolution refined and refreshed the existing Baylor Athletics brand elements while honoring a longstanding tradition of excellence. The result was a clear, concise, consistent and distinct brand identity that reflects the best of Baylor.
Prior to joining the Baylor Athletics department, Overshown spent three years at The King’s University in Southlake, Texas, first as Associate Director of Communications and later as Director of Marketing and Communications. She also has experience in various marketing-related capacities at Texas Christian University and Southern Methodist University.
Overshown earned a bachelor of business administration in marketing from Texas Christian University in 2006 and a master of business administration in marketing communications from Tarleton State University in 2009.
Overshown and her husband, Billy, have two sons: Beckham King and Hendrix Steel. Billy played running back at TCU and currently serves as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic High School.
